Earth Day 2009

Wow! It's been over a year since I last left
some news on my little website!

The end result of the craziest year of my life is
that Simba and I sold up and moved back to
Bucerias on New Year's Day! Since then, Simba
has reached the grand old age of ten, and my 60th
year promises to be the best ever.

I have added a few new photos to my "Life and
Loves in Latin America" album, and have created a
new one to keep you up to date with where I'm
living now.

I have my old job back at the Royal Decameron
resort, teaching English to the executives there,
and rush back home each day to pick up Simba for
his walk on the beach before a light supper.
Ahhh, bliss!

At this time of year, most gringos are heading
back North to beat the heat, but Simba and I,
along with about 50 other die-hard foreigners
will soon welcome the rainy season with it's
spectacular thunderstorms and warm showers. The
last time I remember being caught in a storm, I
was swept off me feet and carried almost a whole
block on the rushing water before being dumped
unceremoniously into the ocean! Actually, it was
kind of fun and terrifying at the same time!

Around 5 p.m. each day during the rainy season,
we experience true torrential rain for about an
hour. Then the sun comes out again, sparkling on
th leaves of grateful trees, and causing all the
birds to ruffle their feathers and resume their
raucous chatter.

Only a month or so to go now. Let's just hope I
don't end up on my ample posterior in the ocean
this year!

Back in the saddle again

I've just returned from a much needed holiday in
Bucerias, and feel wonderfully rested ... ready
for anything that may be thrown at me!

It was fabulous to see that my old friend JohnEd
is well and just as ornery as always ;-), and that
Heather, Bill, Sandrina, Sandy, Ted, Lorenzo,
Antonio, Javier, Nirma, Berenice, Norberto and all
the rest of the Senors and Senoritas haven't
changed a bit!

My plans to retire there have hit a bot of a snag,
but it should all be sorted out by this time next
year! Arrrrrrrriba!!!

Mexico Bound!

We're heading for Bucerias on March 8!
Unfortunately, we're only able to scratch two sun-
filled weeks out of our busy Norte Americano
lifestyle, but this will be a special trip. Yes,
this will be the last trip before retirement, with
a view to buying a little casita to settle in
before the end of the year.

Boxing Day 2007

Hello Friends!

Simba and Harley and I had a lovely quiet holiday
with Rick and Mom. Hope yours was fabulous! I've
booked a trip back to Bucerias for the beginning
of March, planning to spend two weeks looking for
a casa to retire to.

Unfortunately, I lost a very dear friend in
November. David Ciurylo, whom many Bucerias
friends may remember, was only 59 when he passed
away at home in Las Vegas. He had a "joie de
vivre" which was unsurpassed by anyone else I
know. I shall miss him terribly.

And Simba, my constant loving companion since he
was born, has a squamous cell carcinoma (cancer)
and must have an entire toe removed on January 2.
I only hope the vets catch the whole thing so we
can share many more good years together. It's so
hard to see my little friend in pain and not be
able to do anything to help him. Please keep him
in your thoughts.

Harley is still as rambunctious as ever,
destroying anything that looks interesting. I must
trim his claws at least twice a month, or the
condo would be in shreds! But he's become such a
great companion and playmate for Simba. When Simba
first got sick, Harley was by his side, playing
very gentle games to keep him amused.

Rick is off to Halifax with a military load on
December 27, so New Year's Eve will be quiet as
well. He is looking to buy a condo here for his
retirement, and put in an offer on a lovely place
last week. His children and their friends joined
us for Christmas Eve, making for a very jolly
event.

Mom is painting stunning watercolors now, and has
fully recovered from her bout of cancer. It's
wonderful to see her so full of spit and vinegar!

As for me, I'm still enjoying my job at Sprott-
Shaw, but looking forward to retirement in
Bucerias at the end of next year. The critters
will go with me, of course, so I have to find a
dog/cat friendly neighbourhood.

Wishing all of you a very happy and prosperous
2008!

Going "home"!

I'm so excited! My friend Moi and I have booked a
holiday to Mexico for two weeks at the end of
February. We will visit Bucerias, the place that
represents "home" in my heart. It will be achance
to catch up with dear friends, experience again
the vitality of Mexico, and perhaps even purchase
a little plot of land at San Sebastian for
retirement. Watch for photos and news when I get
back in March!

Ever wanted to start again?

Hi Everyone!

After travels hither and thither, making some
lifelong friends along the way and loving the
adventure, Simba and I are settled in Abbotsford,
BC, Canada. We've had to start again many times
in our lives, but each beginning creates the
potential to grow. This new start has afforded me
the opportunity to find love. Ahhhh...... ain't it
grand?
